Hola! How are you? Hope you are fine. =)) Well, I'm writing this note just to wish you happy new year. Yes, 2010 is going to come to an end soon. Gosh, I'm gonna miss this year. It's funny how I say this every new year. However, it's very practical as every single year is just getting more and more interesting. I have not lived, but have learned my live, and I just have a feeling that I'm going to have more of it to be tasted.
So, 2010. What a superb year? Basically, I can split it into two halves. The first half: January to June where I spent most of the time with family. This first half is very unadventurous, but interesting. This is where I learned the value of family. My mom, dad, sisters, cousins... All of them are just wonderful. All those family outings, the time when I become the driver for the family, or those times when we (my family and I) would just sit back and relax will never ever be replaced and will be attached in my heart for ever.
I didn't spent much time with friends as most of them were selected for national service. I was kind of down for not being selected for national service, but I'm over it. This is the time when I got my driving license, my spm results are out (but believe me, I was happier when I got my driving license, I don't know why??), and I went to secondary school to study there for the last time (I did two weeks of Form 6. Kinda sad when leaving). I also got some experience of being interviewed, but let me say one thing. I really enjoyed PETRONAS scholarship interview. It was the most interesting two-days interview that I have ever attended. Well, I eventually got the scholarship to do petroleum engineering, but I decided to let it go to continue with PSD scholarship to do engineering in Canada. So, yeah. This first half ended with me getting the scholarship.
So, the second half had a great beginning. I got a chance to shake hand with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Sri Najib Tun Razak!!! I liked that moment, not because of the glory, but because of the new friends I met there. They are very unlike me, being so energetic and motivated. Then, there comes the college. Did I tell you this is the first time I'm staying away from home after eighteen years of my life? Awesome, right? Yes, it is much more better than I have ever thought it would be. I'm enjoying the individualism I got to the maximum. The only problem of staying away is the food. It is just too expensive. But it's okay. The important thing is I'm having a good time here. Another spectacular thing happened in my life is Canadian Pre-University. It is just awesome. I really learned a lot in this programme. This is the first time I'm in a full-time English-based schooling system. Here, I learned a lot about not fearing anything and to be outspoken all the time. I had four great teachers, and three of them are Canadians! How cool is that? I also got a lot of new friends here. This is where I realise that Malaysia is so much more than just Malays, Chinese and Indians. I got a lot of friends of Sarawakians' ethnics, and let me tell you, they are way more better than West Malaysians. I am surely not my old self anymore. I have done a lot of rights and wrongs, but there is no turning back. That's for sure. So, I learned that the best thing to do when we are in trouble is to just move on.
So, yeah. 2010 was awesome, but I wish 2011 will be awesomer. I know there are more changes waiting for me next year, as I would be venturing the life in Canada, but I just hope that I would survive all those changes. =)) Wokay, it's time for me to sign off. Wish you all a good time till next time. Bye!
Signing off,
Deepa.
